Update!

Well I just wanted to write everyone and say hello. Not much has been happening these past few weeks. I have been very successful with my eating of real food. My favorite is applesauce...I would like to eat that at every meal but I have also tried squash and bananas- I'm not fond of either one of these. Mom is going to start making me homemade baby food next week--we are just trying to figure out what I like and don't like before she makes big batches of it.

I had a playdate last week with a girl (ew). Mom went to high school with a girl who has a 7 month old girl so they came over to my house the other day. Her name is Madelyn and she is quite cute-- she's going to be my girlfriend. We were supposed to go to Baby booktime with them yesterday but mommy had a bad headache and it was rainy so we decided to have a PJ day instead. So we are going to see them on Monday--we think we may go to the park.

In other news, I am going to Grandma Garth's house on Wednesday to stay a few days. Mom is in a wedding in Maryland so Mom and Dad are going to go there without me for the weekend. I know that Grandma will take fantastic care of me but gosh, I'm going to miss mommy and daddy. I hope Grandma has some really fun things planned for us.

Daddy has been working a lot lately so we haven't gotten to see too much of him but his second job is ending April 1st so he will be home A LOT! I am super excited for that to happen because I miss my daddy a lot. He is so much more fun than mommy. Mommy sings to me and makes funny faces but daddy throws me up in the air and carries me upside down. We are men when we are together and I like that.

Anyways, I think that is everything that I need to report right now. Mommy's camera has dead batteries but when she gets new ones she will post some recent photos of me. I am getting so big!! love and kisses to everyone!

YUUUUUUUM!

So I experienced REAL food for the first time the other day. I had rice cereal with apple juice in it. It was quite strange and I'm still trying to get the hang of it. Mom also started giving me applesauce...that tastes WAY better than that gross rice cereal. Anyways, I went to the doctor the other day and I am weighing in at 15 pounds, 2 ounces and I am 25 3/4 inches long. My head is in the 90th percentile, my height is in the 80th percentile and my weight is in the 55th percentile. The doctor was extremely impressed by my motor skills as well as my strength!! Because I am a big boy now, I start eating rice cereal and a fruit in the morning and rice cereal and a vegetable in the evening! Yummy!! Here are some action pictures of my first bites of freedom!!

This is the pre-eating look. I am a little confused, what the heck is this thing around my neck?? Whoa, this stuff tastes majorly weird. What am i supposed to do with it now that it is in my mouth???
Phew, its over!! I did such a good job! I can't wait til dinner time!

Letter to Jack ( four months)

So Mom has decided that she wants to write a post this week. She says that she wants to start writing me little letters on the blog and saving them so one day, I will be able to read them when I'm all grown up. She is going to do it every month and print them out and put them in my baby book. So for now, I am going to turn it over to my mom!

Dear Jack-man,
Oh my goodness, how much you have changed this month! I can't believe that you are the same little man we brought home from the hospital in November-- only FOUR months ago! You have grown almost seven inches since then and I can't even remember holding you when you were so little!

So much has happened this month--this has definitely been my favorite month so far. You have seriously started to smile and giggle--sometimes a big belly laugh which makes everyone in the room laugh as well. You are really starting to talk and talk and talk as well. You just have so much to say and I love listening to it all. You are becoming such a big little man and you are really starting to act like a boy! You can hardly sit still! You are either kicking your legs or moving your arms or pulling mommy's hair and touching my face. You won't bend your body at all to sit down! You either want to be standing up or laying down. You're becoming so strong and I can't believe that just a month ago you could hardly sit up with assistance! You have started to become so tickilish and I aboslutely love hearing you squeal when the tickle-monster comes out to get you! This next month you will start to eat solid food ( well rice cereal, if you want to call that "solid"). I think that truly ends the "newborn" phase of your life. That makes me have a slight twinge of sadness that you are going up so fast but it makes me so excited to see you with real food. I can't believe my little baby is growing up so fast ( yes, I have tears streaming down my face right now)!

You have really started to lift that (big) head off the ground when you are doing your tummy time-- i know you hate it, but you will thank me for it later i promise! You have also started to play with your hands and feet a lot. You seem to only like to grab your right foot, you haven't quite found out about that left one yet. Perhaps that's because you are left handed and grab your opposite foot ( dad won't be too happy about that, but I would be so glad if you followed in my left handed footsteps)! You have started to actually play with things now. In the past months, if I gave you a toy, you would just stare at it. Now you actually pick it up and play with it and it usually ends up in your mouth. You have definitely discovered a few favorite toys, including Leo the Lion, your red robin and of course your bubbas.

Oh, the drool. I can't possibly think that someone can make so much saliva especially a little baby. Holy cow, we could go through about ten outfits a day if i changed you everytime you soaked your shirt. Where does it all come from?

You have been doing great with your sleep schedules! You go to bed every night around 6:00pm and wake up about once in the night and then sleep until 7! Your nap schedule is still a little crazy but as long as you are sleeping well during the night, then I'm happy.

What can I say? I absolutely love this age. You are the perfect combination of cuddly cute little baby and active, energetic little boy. I love you so much and can't wait to see what next month brings! ( just don't grow up too fast, okay?)

Love,
Mommy
