5 months!

Dear Jack,
Oh my sweet little man, where did my baby go to? This has been a pretty crazy month and you have been growing up so much! Big milestones this month included starting real food!, chit chatting all the time, being able to sit up almost unassisted!, seriously starting to get into a sleeping routine and making mommy and daddy happier than they have ever been.
We have started to give you rice cereal in the morning, then you take your morning nap, then you get fruit and right before bed you get a vegetable. Your favorites right now are pears and applesauce for your breakfast and sweet potatoes and squash for your dinner. I've decided to make my own baby food for you so I'm going to make my first batch sweet potatoes and see how you like it. I can't believe that you are old enough to be eating real food. I feel like yesterday I could fit you in one arm and carry you around like a football! You are growing up so fast and becoming such a handsome little man.

You are really starting to get in that smiley phase when you are around other people. I see you look at people and smile at them just so they will look back at you and talk to you. How cute is that? You are definitely your father's son, what with the flirting and everything, holy cow. You are going to have all those girls wrapped around your little finger especially when you flash those big blue eyes at them. I have come to the conclusion that no girl will ever be good enough for you ever. Yes, I'm sure I will be one of those mothers but I just think that you deserve the world.

As the weeks go by, and I begin to measure your age in months instead of weeks, I already look back on your "infant" days as so special. Now you are about to hit 16 pounds and are too long for the clothes I put aside as too big for you only moments ago. Before you came along, I had always read about the strong bond between a mother and her son. Now I truly know what that feels like. We spend so much time together and it makes my heart melt every time I enter a room and you look at me and smile. It is as if we exchange smiles to say " I miss you and love you".

Right now at 5 months, you think that my singing is quite amusing. Your favorite songs seem to be " the wheels on the bus" and " you are my sunshine". However sometimes you do prefer "Patty Cake" when you are in a real gitty mood. Some day mommy's silly songs will be too childish but I hope that you never outgrow our closeness.

You truly are our pride and joy. When I am not around you, I can't wait to get to you. You bring out the best in me and I am truly, truly blessed to call you my son. Keep growing and changing and remember that daddy and I love you more than word's can express.

Love,
Mommy
