Dear Jack,
You are six months old! How can it possibly be that you are half a year old? I can't even believe it. You have changed drastically in the past month that sometimes I have to sit and remember those old days when you were just so tiny and small. You are becoming so big and sometimes I have to look at you twice to make sure that this BIG boy is actually my son!
You have conquered so many different skills this month. The big one being that you can sit up all by yourself now! Of course you are a little wobbly and usually end up face planting into the floor, but you can sit up for a good five minutes by yourself! I am definitely looking forward to the day where you can sit on the floor by yourself and play with your toys while I maybe unload the dishwasher ( without a baby in my arms, YAY! -- my biceps will thank you!)
Today was the first day that you actually sat in a cart by yourself without your car seat. I kept squealing with excitement every five seconds because I was so freaking excited for you. You probably thought I was a little crazy but I also saw the excitement in your eyes as well! And yes, I stopped in the middle of Sams to photograph this moment-- every first experience must be captured! I promise you will thank me for that later on in your life!
You have definitely started to roll over both from your back to your stomach and vice versa. Although I am glad that you are starting to move more, it makes our lives a little bit more difficult since we can't just leave you laying on the bed or on the changing table anymore. We've had ONE bad experience with you and the daybed so we definitely don't want that to happen again.
You are beginning to reach out for me when I come and pick you up. You seem to really only do it for me ( which makes me feel extra special) but I'm sure in the next few weeks you will start doing it to anyone you see since you love to be held. You are definitely in that phase right now where you would much rather be in someone's arms all day then sitting by yourself-- although that makes my life very difficult since you are weighing in at almost 18 pounds but I know I should enjoy it now while I can becuase I am pretty sure you won't let me carry you around when you are sixteen years old.
It is a good thing that babies don't come out of the womb with personalities of a six month old because holy cow, there would be SO MANY BABIES! Right now you pretty much think that EVERYTHING is just so great and hilarious. You pretty much think that your daddy is the funniest person in the world and you just look at him and start giggling. You are getting big enough for daddy to start throwing you up into the air which you particularly enjoy and share your excitement with squeals of laughter.
You greet pretty much everyone with a smile-- although I have come to realize that you make females work a little harder for that grin, already playing hard to get I guess! It's like you are saying to everyone "hey you, look at me, I'm smiling at you- don't you want to play with me??"
We have come to the realization that everytime you visit Cousin Avery, you come home and talk and talk and talk. We think that Avery is rubbing off on you because usually you are a quiet little boy. But lately, you squeal and co and ga at just about everything you see. You especially enjoy staring at your stuffed animals and ohing and ahing at them and then getting very frustrated when those animals don't talk back to you!!
Okay okay, enough gushing over my adorably cute little boy-- I love you now and forever and remember that no matter what age you are, you will always and forever be my little boy.
Love,
Mommy
